A Typical Afternoon Wedding Procedure
Our maximum here during the day is 40 guests for a seated meal or 60 for a buffet. We are sorry but we do not cater for evening parties.
Guests would arrive around 30 minutes before the ceremony (if held at the hotel). After the ceremony (Civil or partnership, fee £300) or on arrival here from the church or registry office, we welcome you both and your guests with reception drinks and canapés. (We are required to close the bar 20-30 minutes before a ceremony as it is illegal to serve alcohol in the vicinity of a ceremony).
Usually two - three glasses of your choice of bucks fizz, kir royale, mulled wine or Pimms and lemonade (or a soft drink). Standard charge of £8.50 per person, including canapés. After photography, (we recommend up to 1 hour) the meal is then served in the dining room, either a seated formal banquet (e.g. 4 tables of ten) or a served buffet. Buffet guests can sit throughout the house and front terraces, giving an informal house party feel to the occasion (or in the main dining room for up to 40 guests) taking full advantage of all our luxurious rooms on the ground floor.
During the ceremony and / or afternoon, a pianist or harpist is normal (Cost £80 - £150) Otherwise background music of your choice can be provided. House wines are from £14.50 per bottle (allow from 1/3 bottle per head) together with soft drinks are served throughout the meal. You may specify the amount we use. After dessert, guests usually gather in the Drawing Room for cutting of the cake, toasts and speeches. As a toasting wine we offer a French sparkling wine £14.50, Cava Rose £19.50 or house Champagne £29.50. Coffee, together with wedding cake is then served from the lower hall. A cash bar is available throughout the day (until 5.30) and proceedings draw to a close between 5.30 and 6pm.
